Ridings Medical Group – COVID19 vaccination patient update 31st January 2021

Thank you to all of our patients for your continued support whilst we deliver the Covid19 vaccinations to our patient population. We continue to receive a high volume of calls to
query when patients may receive a vaccine which is affecting patients being able to contact
the practice for non-Covid19 queries.

Please do not contact us to book a vaccine or query when you will be offered one.

Many patients will have received a letter from NHS England offering them the chance to
book an appointment online to attend the mass vaccination centre at Askham Bar Park &
Ride. Patients can choose to be vaccinated there but will be required to return there for
their 2nd vaccination. Alternatively, patients can be vaccinated at Brough Surgery but this
cannot be booked online.

We are contacting patients in order of the JCVI priority below and in age descending order
within each priority group. We have no influence over this list and cannot advise exact
timescales due to vaccine availability which we have no control over.

1. residents in a care home for older adults and their carers – 1st vaccine completed*
2. all those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers – 1st
vaccine completed*
3. all those 75 years of age and over – 1st vaccine in progress
4. all those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals – 1st
vaccine in progress
5. all those 65 years of age and over – expected to start late February 2021
6. all individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put
them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality (including registered carers)
7. all those 60 years of age and over
8. all those 55 years of age and over
9. all those 50 years of age and over
*some patients in each group may not have had their vaccination due to personal medical circumstances. These are being followed up so they can receive the vaccine as soon as they are medically well enough. Our staff are working extremely hard to care for you during these unprecedented times so please be patient. Thank you for your continued support.

Census 21st March 2021

What is the census?
The census is a survey that happens every 10 years and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales. All kinds of organisations, from local authorities to charities, use the information to help provide the services we all need, including transport, education and healthcare. Without the census, it would be much more difficult to do this.

When should I fill in my census questionnaire?
Census Day is Sunday 21 March – but you can fill yours in as soon as you get your access code
in the post. Your answers should be about the people who usually live in your household on this date – even if you’re filling it in before then. If your household circumstances change on
Census Day, you can let us know.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – East Riding of Yorkshire Council

Covid 19 New National Restrictions and Guidance from 5th November

As outlined in the Prime Minister’s statement on 31 October, from Thursday, 5
November new national restrictions will apply in England in an effort to reduce the rapid
increase in COVID-19 infections across the country, hospitalisations and loss of life.

The new restrictions will be in place until 2 December and are aimed at reducing day-to-day
contact between people – therefore closing certain businesses and venues and encouraging people to stay at home wherever possible, except for specific reasons.

Further detailed information is available via the links below:-

The East Riding Food Poverty Alliance (ERFPA) and its constituent foodbank members are now providing all emergency food parcel distribution. Callers to ERYC (01482 393919) will still be supported to access suitable food supplies via commercially available supplies. Residents in financial need are referred directly to Foodbank services. Paid for food parcels are still available as a last resort, with this service being delivered on ERYC behalf by East Yorkshire Foodbank. Residents can still apply for individual emergency assistance at https://www.eastriding.gov.uk/living/emergency-assistance/

RIDINGS MEDICAL GROUP – FLU VACCINATIONS Winter 2020

In this very different year, all flu vaccinations will be done at the RIDINGS MEDICAL GROUP by appointment only so they can maintain social distancing (no walk ins).

The clinics for over 64s and patients in the ‘at risk’ groups will commence on 3rd October. If you are eligible, book an appointment:

  • Online via the SystmOnline account (the appointments are called ‘flu clinic-invite only – flu vac for adults only’). This helps keep the phone lines clear as much as possible.
  • Via telephone if you are unable to book online

Please help by:

  • Arriving on time (not early) with your sleeve rolled up and your arm out ready!
  • Following the signs in the surgery and remembering to distance
  • Wearing a face covering
  • Coming alone unless the person you are with is being vaccinated too
  • Remembering that the appointment is for your flu jab only – we are unable to answer other queries

50-64 year old vaccinations as per Government announcement – these patients will not be vaccinated against flu (unless in an at risk group as above) until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. Please do not call to ask for further details or to book in as they are unlikely to have any information until November. They are waiting on further information from the UK Government.
